Michelle Taylor, MD, FAAFP
(She/Her):
PRogram Director
Dr. Taylor is grateful to be program director of such an amazing program! She loves working with such a talented, diverse team of faculty and residents. She has a passion for holistic community-based family medicine and is excited to continue to grow the program’s community focus and impact on health equity. She grew up in Hilliard, Ohio, attended The Ohio State University for undergrad, then medical school at the University of Cincinnati. She joined OhioHealth in 2014, completing her residency at Riverside Methodist, serving as chief resident. After residency, she was founding faculty at Dublin Family Medicine Residency, and served as APD and Medical Director. She joined our DHFM family in January 2024. She also has served as volunteer faculty for OUHCOM’s Rural and Urban Scholars Program since 2017. She holds additional board certifications in Lifestyle Medicine, Obesity Medicine, and Health and Wellness Coaching, and completed the AAFP Leading Physician Well-Being course. She has many interests in medicine including diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership development, well-being, and nutrition. Outside of medicine, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with her husband, Kyle, children Iris and Nolan, going to the zoo, planning family activities and trips, and leading a Daisy Scout troop.
Matt Johnston, DO (he/him):
Associate PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Dr. Johnston is very passionate about resident education! He seamlessly transitioned into a full-time faculty role after serving as a community preceptor and practicing FM in Circeville, OH. He attended OUHCOM and trained at Firelands Regional Medical Center for residency. He supports resident didactics and shares vast knowledge about geriatric care, rural medicine and social determinants of health.
Alexandra McKenna, DO (she/her):
Associate PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Dr. McKenna is proud to be faculty and alumna of DHFM. She has enjoyed working with the patients of DHFP and Doctors Hospital since her intern year. Dr. McKenna loves working with resident and faculty leadership to advance the program. She attended medical school at OUHCOM. Her interests include population health, academic medicine, preventative care and chronic disease management. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, raising two children, working on home improvement projects, cooking and traveling.
Frances Comer, DO (she/her):
ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Dr. Comer is our lead in providing general pediatric care, pediatric OMT and sports medicine care in our office. Dr. Comer attended OUHCOM and completed residency through Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH). She completed her sports medicine fellowship through NCH while concurrently practicing as a pediatrician and OMT provider. Her medical interests include pediatrics and sports medicine, but specifically, OMT, breastfeeding medicine, nutrition, physical activity, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. She enjoys running, strength training, yoga, Disney, spending time with family and friends, cheering on Cleveland sports teams and the WVU Mountaineers!
Ashley Cremona-Simmons, DO (She/her):
Assistant Program Director
Dr. Cremona-Simmons originally from Maryland has made the Buckeye State her home. She obtained both her BA in Public Health and MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her undergraduate medical education at OUHCOM and residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She is passionate about academic medicine, Women's Health, combating health inequities, DEI initiatives and increasing URM representation in medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, DIY home projects, and cooking .
Carrie Gray, DO (SHE/HER):
Assistant Program Director
Dr. Gray is excited to move home and join the Doctors Family Medicine Residency family. Born and raised in southern Ohio, she completed her medical education at OUHCOM and then went on to complete a military internship at Naval Hospital Pensacola. She completed her residency in family medicine at University of South Alabama Medical Center and went on to serve for 4 years in the US Navy as a primary care physician. Afterward, she took on a role as Associate Program Director at South Baldwin Family Medicine Residency program in Foley, Alabama. She completed a fellowship in faculty development through the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill that really curated and solidified her love for teaching. She is passionate about women's healthcare, advocacy for veterans, lifelong learning, and creating patient centered environments focused on shared decision making. Outside of medicine, she loves staying active, going on adventures with her family, board games, and playing tennis.
Molly Wilson, MD (SHE/her):
Assistant program director
Dr. Wilson graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing in 1997. She practiced nursing in Oncology and Surgical Intensive Care for ten years. She graduated from Ross University with MD and completed residency at OhioHealth Grant Family Medicine. After graduation from residency in 2016, she joined the faculty at Grant where she was very clinically active as a part of the inpatient service team as well as the obstetrics team. She transitioned to OhioHealth Doctors Family Medicine Residency in June 2022 looking for a new horizon with the ability to focus on work/life balance.
She has always lived in Columbus and grew up on the east side in a family of eleven children. She has 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren. She is in a long term relationship and really enjoys traveling with her partner, Michael. They also enjoy motorcycling together and enjoy their 3 dogs!
Andrew Eilerman, DO FACOFP (he/him):
ASSOCIATE PROGRAM DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR OF OSTEOPATHIC EDUCATION
Dr. Eilerman is a strong advocate for residents, patients, staff and faculty! He is passionate about teaching and uses a holistic approach to any situation! His medical interests include endocrinology and diabetes care, pediatrics, practice management and osteopathic treatment. He attended school at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUHCOM) and completed residency at Doctors. He enjoys home improvement projects with his pediatrician wife Kim, and acts as an 'entertainment liaison' for his 3 kids' softball/baseball games and Cub Scout adventures!
Andrew Faiella, Pharm-D, BCACP
Clinical Pharmacist
Andrew trained at The Ohio State University and subsequently completed a residency in Community Care Pharmacy Practice. Prior to joining our DHFM family, he was a Clinical Pharmacist at PrimaryOne Health. His clinical interests include diabetes, student educations, and caring for the underserved. His personal hobbies include cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Tejal Patel, DO (she/her):
ASSOCIATE PROGRAM DIRECTOR / INCLUSION CHAMPION
Dr. Patel serves on the Doctors Hospital Diversity & Inclusion Council and supports the Healthcare Disparities lectures for didactics. She attended OUHCOM and trained at Doctors. Medical interests include cultural medicine, student education, osteopathic community involvement, and community health. She and her husband are always looking for opportunities to experience the city’s ethnic restaurants. She also likes to run and watch movies.
Tori avina-heinl, MA, IMFT-S (SHE/HER):
director of behavioral sciences
Tori is the Director of Behavioral Sciences and an Independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her passion for psychology began in high school and led her to pursuing a BA in Psychology from San Diego State University and a MA in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University, San Diego Regional Campus. Tori has worked in various practice settings, supporting clients with mood disorders, psychosis, relationships, and overall well-being. Over time, she gained an interest and focus on well-being through stress reduction and education. She is particularly passionate about increasing well-being in the workplace which led her to OhioHealth. She enjoys painting, spending time with her cats, and is an avid Renaissance Festival fan.
Veronica Torres, MD (SHE/HER)
Assistant program director
Dr. Torres received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Rice University in Houston, TX, with a minor in anthropology. She received her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in 2016 and completed her family medicine residency at UMass Chan Family Medicine Residency, in Worcester, MA, in 2019. During her time in residency, she found a passion for medical education. Her medical interests include hospital medicine, women’s health, and LGTBQ+ care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, trying out new restaurants, reading, and exploring Columbus.
COMMUNITY PRECEPTORS
Community preceptors are physicians who spend some of their week supervising and educating residents in clinic. They all bring unique experience and perspectives to our program!
