Our past, present, and future
The Doctors Hospital Family Medicine Residency has been present for approximately 40 years and is affiliated with OhioHealth Doctors Hospital, which has served as a large osteopathic training site for several residency and fellowship programs.
As our city and community grows, we also challenge ourselves to grow and better understand any barriers we can remove for our patients. We want to be inclusive of every individual that walks into our door, and so we have emphasized belonging and inclusion in our policies, didactics and case presentations. We are fortunate to work for a healthcare organization that has emphasized inclusion as a key value in our mission to serve our community. We have incorporated implicit bias training into our didactics and we are diversifying our healthcare disparities lectures. Though we feel we have made many changes in our curriculum, we know that there is always going to be room to grow and learn from each other.
Kaleidoscope Curriculum
This is a lecture series that evolves to match the needs of the community as well as allow for fluid communication among residents and faculty.
Topics include:
Social Determinants & Health
Impacts of Poverty on Healthcare

These presentations are immediately followed by a debriefing session to allow residents and faculty to determine actionable steps to be taken in the residency curriculum and in office operations to serve our community more inclusively.
